The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atiwa West in the Eastern Region, Isaac Asamoah Akoamning has indicated his people are on course to achieving a greater height of development with the support of the Akufo-Addo led government.

Speaking at the Meet The Press forum, he said the President through his intervention has abrogated galamsey and replaced with small scale mining which requires a license before one can operate.

Giving an overview of government flagship programs in the area, he said the Atiwa West District has benefited from the One District One Factory program following the introduction of the Ministry of Special Development which seeks to develop districts in the country.

The DCE indicated that his outfit has sent proposals to the Ministry of Trade and Industry in their quest to get an oil palm factory since most of the communities have palm plantations.

He added that the Atiwa West District has again sent proposals to the government to help provide investors to the area so they can use bamboos to produce better things for the country.

According to him, they have benefited from the $1m dollars which was given to every constituency for projects.

He added that the school feeding program been expanded and promised other communities in the area to soon receive their share of the flagship program.

Touching on roads, he said they are on course to refurbish town roads which includes Abomosu, Akropong, Kwabeng among others and promised the people that by 2020 the area will enjoy a better road network.

Again, he said contractors have been deployed to about eight communities in the district to extend electricity to them.

The DCE used the opportunity to present some relief items to Persons With Disabilities.
