Father of new Arsenal signing Thomas Partey seem to have rubbed insult to injury as he says the Partey family is oblivious of the hurt his son's move has caused Athletico Madrid.

The London club triggered the central midfielder's contract with Athletico Madrid which had a release clause of 50 million euros.

Partey had been the priority target for Arsenal all summer but failed to negotiate with Athletico Madrid about a  fee as the rojiblancos did not want to loose their prized asset.

He has penned a long-term deal with the North London side and becomes the fourth signing after Willian, Gabriel and goalkeeper Runar Alex Runarsson.

The Ghana international came through the Atletico youth ranks since 2012 and went on to make 188 appearances, scoring 16 goals and assisting a further 12.

The 27-year-old midfielder in his time won both the Europa League and Super Cup in 2018, and was a Champions League runner-up in 2016.

Speaking in an interview with Kumasi based ASHH FM, Mr Jacob Partey says they do not care about how the Rojiblancos supporters are feeling and his wife is preparing a delicious meal to celebrate the feat.

"Thomas's mother is in the kitchen cooking something delicious for this celebration

We don't care if Athletico Madrid supporters are furious because Partey is leaving" he told Ashh FM.

"Is our prayers that with this move one day he wins the African player of the year award

The family plays football and his senior brother played with our former coach Akwasi Appiah in Suyani"

"Ghanaians are now going to see the football in Thomas Partey and I believe he is going to play his heart out" he added.
