The Black Satellites of Ghana suffered a one nil defeat against Ivory Coast in the ongoing WAFU Nations Cup in Benin.

It was the last game of Group B but coach Karim Zito and his charges succumbed to a defeat at the Stade de Gaules on Saturday afternoon.

Assistant coach of the national U-20 side, Evans Augustine Adotey says they went for the kill but his side lost to a better team in the shape of Ivory Coast.

He was speaking during the post match press conference after Ghana's defeat/

"We informed our players that we are going in for the kill. We didn't come into the game to lose, we came in purposely for results the maximum points except that our objective to claim the maximum points failed."

"Before coming into this game I knew the challenge I was going to face because I was here to observe Côte d'Ivoire against Nigeria although the match ended in a draw 1-1 but I saw Côte d'Ivoire as better side and I'm not surprise Black Satellites lost to a good side like Côte d'Ivoire."

"Talking of the free-kick that resulted in a goal there is nothing much I can say I will go back and look at the playback and judge the situation but it is too early to predict now or judge my goalkeeper."

Ghana will take on Niger in the semi finals of the WAFU Cup on Tuesday 15th December,2020 with a win sending the Black Satellites to the World U-20 tournament.
