Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong says that former Black  Stars captain Asamoah Gyan can make a difference for Ghana at the 2022 FIFA World Cup despite being old.

The 36 year old striker has been without a club since leaving Legon Cities last season after an injury ravaged stint with the Ghana Premier League side.

Asamoah Gyan also last played for the Black Stars  at the 2019 African  Cup of Nations tournament in Egypt.

Despite being Ghana's all time top scorer and the African player with the most goals at the World Cup a place in the team to Qatar may be a bridge too far for Gyan but the Assin Central legislator thinks otherwise.

“He is an old man, he is an old man… but he can motivate the team," he told Happy FM.

“His presence alone will make a difference, so when they are going and they send old players along to motivate them, it can be a gamechanger.

“So the role of old players like Asamoah Gyan cannot be discounted, they must be sent to boost the morale of the young ones. But form what I saw from the games against Nigeria, we can go far,” he added.
