Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Joe Osei Owusu, has charged security agencies to up their game by cracking the whip on criminals in the country.

He called on Ghanaians to support the military by ensuring that the country’s water bodies are protected.

‘We are pampering wrongdoers in this country too much and they are not many. So Mr. Speaker, I think we should stand by the military and we should all stand together to ensure that our water bodies are clean and safe,” Mr. Owusu suggested when he spoke on the floor of Parliament.

His comments come on the back of a group of soldiers who allegedly burnt down heavy sand mining machines in the Northern region over the weekend.

According to him, some countries in the 60s were shooting people for littering on the streets, saying their systems worked and that Ghana could do same.

He said those who engaged in the sand mining can resort to the court if they feel they were treated unfairly.
