The Deputy National Communications Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kweku Boahen has stated clearly that if the Electoral Commission of Ghana has chosen not to respect the NDC as a political party,  they will equally not recognize them as a Commission.

On Wednesday the NDC boycotted an Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting to review the 2020 general elections, blaming the EC for rigging the election for the NPP.

In a reaction to the party’s decision, Kweku Boahen said the Jean Mensah-led Electoral Commission does not respect NDC as a party in this country.

“We will not respect the Election Commission if they don’t respect us as a party”. He said on a TV show monitored by Ghana Guardian.

According to him, EC told them (NDC) in a previous meeting that IPAC is just an advisory body to the Commission so they can choose to take advice from any party.

“The Electoral Commission once said after an IPAC meeting that there was no wisdom in the advice NDC gave so they will not take it.” Mr. Boahen lamented.

How can we respect an institution that does not respect our party? He quizzed.
