Ibrahim Sannie Daara, the former Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association, has called on Black Stars head coach Otto Addo to go all out to ensure Ghana’s qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), despite recent challenges.

The Black Stars are set to face Angola on November 15 at the Estádio 11 de Novembro at 19:00 GMT and will later host Niger at the Accra Sports Stadium on November 18, with kick-off at 16:00 GMT.

With high stakes and national expectations, Daara emphasized the importance of selecting the strongest squad available.

Speaking to Asempa FM, Daara dismissed calls for prioritizing local players in the upcoming qualifiers, stressing that experience and quality should take precedence.

“We have to do anything possible to ensure that we qualify for the AFCON, so we have to invite the best players because we are still in the race for qualification,” he stated.

Despite recent struggles, including a loss to Angola and a draw with Niger in the initial Group F encounters, Daara remains optimistic about Ghana's potential.

“We have won against Mali in the World Cup qualifiers, so it’s still possible we can go and win at Angola and beat Niger as well. We have the players and talent to do it,” he confidently added.

Ghana’s qualification campaign has been marked by mixed results. After a goalless draw with Sudan at the Accra Sports Stadium and a subsequent 2-0 loss in the return leg played in Libya, the Black Stars find themselves in a precarious position.

They currently sit third in Group F, making victories in the upcoming matches essential to keep their AFCON hopes alive.
