Instant messaging app WhatsApp has rolled out a new update for its Android users. The update brings features like dedicated Group calling button and a fix for the bug in the GIF support.
This was first spotted by WABetaInfo, the Twitter account that tracks the updates and changes on the Facebook-owned app.

The icon to start a video call will be placed in the top right corner. Tapping on that will list out all the participants of that WhatsApp group except people that are not in your contacts list. After you have selected the contacts, it will ask you to choose the type of the call between a voice and a video call.
Recently, it was reported that WhatsApp is working on a new feature in order to enhance the security of the app. As per a report, WhatsApp is working on introducing fingerprint authentication feature in the app. Once enabled the feature will ask the user to open the app with fingerprint.

WABetainfo highlights that the feature is in developmental stage right now and it is disabled by default in the Android 2.19.3 beta version. In an official post WABetaInfo said, “"After working to implement Face ID and Touch ID features on iOS (that aren't available yet for development reasons), WhatsApp has finally started to work on the Authentication feature on Android, using your Fingerprint!"

As per the report, users can find the fingerprint authentication feature within the app under Settings>Account>Privacy. Once a user enables the fingerprint authentication feature then the app will be completely protected. Also in case the app is not able to recognise the fingerprint then users can also launch the app by entering their phone credentials.

The report also adds, "The user will need to authenticate his identity in order to open WhatsApp (from the app icon, from the notification or from external pickers). It will protect the entire app, so it's not used to lock specific conversations."

WABetaInfo suggest that initially the feature will be available for Android users and then it will be rolled out on iOS as well.
