Assin Central Member of Parliament (MP), Kennedy Agyapong has said that the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has no excuse for failing to fix the Adentan Footbridges two years after being in power.

Residents of Adenta embarked on a demonstration Monday morning as part of measures to put pressure on government to complete footbridges on the Adenta Madina highway.

The demonstration came on the back of rising road crashes on the Highway sparking chaos and roadblocks by the residents.

So far 24 people have been killed on the road with 164 others sustaining injuries.

Government communicators have since blamed the previous administration for the failure to fix the footbridges.

Ken Agyapong however disagree as according to him, the NPP have no excuse for failing to fix the footbridges, two years after being in power.

“I went to Adenta to see the footbridges and I asked myself, why should we be in power for two years and fail to fix this thing…we should have instilled discipline in the contractors to finish the footbridges…,” Ken Agyapong said on Adom TV on Tuesday.
