Ghana's William Amponsah will compete at the Boston Marathon this year, the athlete has confirmed.
The long distance specialist will make his Boston debut as he has been confirmed as an entrant following his exploits at the 2018 Dubai Marathon.

He will race against world class internationals to challenge to make a name for himself and country.

"I have successfully competed the registration processes  to compete at Boston", he told ghanaguardian.com.

"Thanks to Mr Robbin Todd,who worked on the registration for me."

Amponsah had his major part of 2018 blighted with injuries as he was forced to withdraw from the Asante Akyem Marathon due to knee problems.
The 20 year old sensation came back strong to win the 5000m race of the 2018 edition of the maiden  ECOWAS Athletic Championships but found himself in another injury trouble, which ruled him off till January this year.

He has since returned and competed in the 2019 National cross country in February and confirmed the completion of his registration

"I was preparing for the millennium marathon after the ECOWAS and I got injured in September and recovered in December," he revealed.

"It was very serious that I had to sit down for a long time.So my first race after I recovered was the mini Gusa games which I placed 3rd in the 5,000m.

"And I placed second in the national cross country recently at mpohor, western region".

The 123rd Boston Marathon will be run on April 15, 2019, with the field capped at 30,000 entrants.

Boston Marathon can only be registered with an IAAF time  and Amponsah made his international time at the Dubai marathon 2018 where he placed 3rd on his category and 21st overall.

Amponsah got the  chance to pitch his strength against other professionals in the Dubai marathon as part of his prize for winning the maiden Asante Akyim Marathon challenge
