Xiaomi, the Chinese electronics company that is the smartphone market leader in India, has completed five years in the country. To mark its fifth-anniversary celebrations, Xiaomi has said that it will announce "five exciting surprises during this week for our Mi Fans, in line with celebrating our fifth year."

This means from January 7-11, the company will have five 'surprises' for its buyers in India. The first surprise from the company was a price cut announcement of its second-generation Android One smartphone -- Mi A2. This means that there may be more price cuts from the company in the coming week.

The company has already revealed its plans to launch a a new television in the country on January 10. Manu Kumar Jain, MD Xiaomi India, took to Twitter to announce the launch. Since the tweet mentions ‘The Bigger Picture', it is being alleged that the company may launch a large screen TV, which will be larger than any of the current products from Xiaomi. For those unware, in its home country China, Xiaomi already has a 65-inch Mi TV 4. It offers 4K display and is priced at CNY CNY 5,999 (roughly Rs 63,000).

Internationally, Xiaomi announced that its Redmi series of smartphones will now be a sub-brand for the company, last week. Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun posted on Weibo, the Chinese microblogging website, the new logo of the Redmi brand, along with the announcement that the first device under this brand will launch on January 10 in China. The poster has the Redmi logo in the centre and the shadow that the name casts reads 48, which is allegedly the megapixel sensor of the upcoming smartphone's rear camera.

Last week, Xiaomi also expanded its lifestyle product portfolio with the launch of Mi AirPOP PM2.5 Anti-Pollution mask in India. Presently the company is selling a pair of Mi AirPOP PM2.5 Anti-Pollution Mask at Rs 249. The manufacturer claims that a pair of mask can last up to a month.
