Accra Regional Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Effia Tenge has received her share of the backlash after the Ghana Police Service boycotted the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election violence commemoration.

The leadership of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has earlier accused the Police administration of failing to provide security for the event held on January 31 at the Bawaleshie Presbyterian Church premises, Accra.

Responding to the NDC's claims, the Ghana Police Service said 'adequate security' was provided for the commemoration.

A statement signed by DSP Effia Tenge, said the Airport Divisional Command led teams from his jurisdiction with three support teams from the Regional Operations Counter Terrorism Unit and SWA.

“There were also Criminal Investigation Department personnel and, Operations Calm life (Police Military operation) and officers from the Motor and Traffic Unit”, the statement added.

Reacting to the statement, however, an outspoken member of NDC, Yayra Koku described Effia Tenge as a liar.

He wondered why her outfit could release a statement lying to Ghanaian when in the actual sense, she [Tenge] knew that the Service on Thursday issued a wireless message that “no police officer should be detailed to provide security for the event”.

In a post of Facebook sighted by Ghanaguardian.com, Yayra advised Effia Tenge not to allow herself to be used by the NPP for their dirty jobs as according to him, “You are a lady and ladies don't behave like that”.
