President Nana Akufo-Addo on Thursday, June 28, sacked the EC boss and her deputies, Amadu Sulley and Georgina Opoku Amankwah, following a recommendation of a committee set up to investigate allegations of corruption leveled at the leadership of the commission.

The news was met with mixed reactions from Ghanaians and a strong opposition from the National Democratic Congress, who had indicated plans to launch a campaign to protest the development.

Among the national stakeholders who have stood in solidarity with Charlotte Osei, is the Former Gender Minister, Nana Oye Lithur.

In a post on her Facebook page, Nana Oye expressed admiration for the former EC chair, thanking her for the contributions made during her (Charlotte) tenure.

“You still remain our most erudite lawyer, God fearing public servant who reformed and revolutionised the Electoral Commission as its First Female Chairman.

You made sweeping changes at NCCE and left it in good shape. You superintended over the best elections ever in 2016. You have made all women in Ghana proud! You served your nation well!!! You are a shining star and example,” Nana Oye wrote.

The renowned gender advocate further assured Mrs. Osei that the people of Ghana stood in solidarity with her, and that she should hold her head high as "God was indeed in control.”

Meanwhile, Charlotte Osei has responded to the news of her dismissal calmly, with a bible verse that seems to indicate that she will not remain ‘defeated.’

She posted on Instagram a bible verse from Psalm 124, with an adjoining caption about the immeasurable mercies of God.

The firing of Charlotte Osei and her deputies traces back to a 27-point petition filed by some angry workers of the Electoral Commission (EC) who cited instances of the abuse of power, mismanagement of public funds and causing of financial loss to the state as probable reasons for their dismissal.

These angry workers claimed Madam Osei fiercely abused the powers of her office in the awarding of "fraudulent" contracts to some companies including the Superlock Technologies Limited (STL) and IT Firm, Dreamoval to which she paid $76,000.
