Former President Jerry John Rawlings has paid a glowing tribute to late Highlife singer, Jewel Ackah for his immense contribution to the Ghanaian music.

According the Mr. Rawlings, who commiserated with the bereaved family indicated that the significant contributions made by Mr. Ackah through music can never be forgotten.

The late Ackah was a staunch supporter of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), composing their famous party Anthem  and many songs used by the party in its campaigns.

The veteran highlife musician passed on Friday, April 27, 2018 at the age of 68 after battling stroke and other sicknesses for the past 10 years.


Mr Rawlings, who took to twitter to share his condolences, further indicated that Mr Ackah’s “danceable tunes are immortalised in the NDC, helping to catapult its name across the country”.

He wrote: "You made a significant contribution to the Ghanaian music industry. Your danceable tunes are immortalised in the NDC, helping to catapult its name across the country. Ghana has indeed lost a jewel. Fare thee well Jewel Ackah. Sincere sympathies to the family".
