Zamalek coach Jose Gomez has praised Dreams FC for their remarkable performance in the CAF Confederation Cup campaign.

The Ghana FA Cup holders showcased an impressive display in their debut appearance in African competition, reaching the semifinals of the tournament.

Dreams FC's Confederation Cup journey concluded with a 3-0 defeat to Zamalek in the semifinals' second leg at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Zamalek advanced 3-0 on aggregate following a goalless draw in the first leg at the Cairo International Stadium.

Goals from Hamza Mathlouthi, Samson Akinyoola, and Mostafa Shalaby secured an important victory for the 2019 Champions in Kumasi.

Despite the loss, Gomez applauded Dreams FC for their performance throughout the competition.

He acknowledged Dreams' attacking prowess and praised goalkeeper Mohamed Awad's efforts in blocking several chances, along with the solid defense.

Reflecting on the first leg's outcome, where Zamalek was held to a goalless draw in Cairo, Gomez admitted that his team failed to capitalize on their opportunities.

However, he credited Zamalek for handling the return leg effectively, asserting their dominance to secure the win and qualification to the final.

"Zamalek did not take advantage of the opportunities it had in the first leg, and we succeeded in dealing with the return match well," Gomez acknowledged.

"We were the best and deserved to win the match and qualify for the final."

Gomez's words highlight the respect Zamalek holds for Dreams FC and their acknowledgment of the Ghanaian club's impressive performance in the Confederation Cup.

Despite the disappointment of elimination, Dreams FC's journey has earned them recognition on the continental stage, with Zamalek acknowledging their resilience and attacking prowess throughout the competition.
