Zongo Journalists have called on a Light FM Sports Presenter Abu Bonsra “Super Obondede” to apologize after making derogatory statement on the Zongo communities.

The journalist in his reaction made some unfounded and unguided comments on the station’s Sports Lite programme on Wednesday.

In a statement, the  Zongo Journalists said those comments are demeaning and unacceptable to the Zongo community from a presenter, who should have known better through the ethics of journalism which he neglected.

They have therefore asked the Presenter to offer an unqualified apology to Zongos through the medium he spoke on Wednesday.

Below is the full statement:

Dear Abu Bonsra,

Our attention has been to utterances made by your good self riling and tainting the image of the Zongo community on a live radio show on Wednesday, 22 April, 2020.

The impression is false calculated to cause embarrassment and public ridicule.

We are not averse to dissenting views but not when it smacks of sheer malice and a cancerous to undermine our authority, work and subject our community to public ridicule.

At your level of intellectual soundness and maturity, we expect you to be decorous in your utterances since it could spark chaos.

The Zongo Journalists Association strongly condemn your actions and therefore humbly ask you to use the same platform to retract every negative word alluded the Zongo community and apologise to us.

Failure to do as instructed in this letter could compel us to use a different approach to have our concerns heard.

Sincerely,

Thank you
Signed
