Halifax Ansah-Addo, Director of Communications for Zylofon Cash and Zylofon Events, has come to the rescue of hiplife artiste Wisa Greid, who was fined by a court today [Monday] for showing his penis whiles performing on stage in 2015.

Halifax, an arts writer and co-founder of the Publisher newspaper, sent an amount of GHc10, 000.00 to bail Wisa of the Ghc 8,400 fine slapped on him earlier today [Monday] by an Accra Circuit Court.

In an interview with Halifax, he told citinewsroom.com that when he heard about the fine, he thought he could help, so he sent the money to a journalist who was then in court to witness the proceedings, to pay for him.

“I wasn’t even in court so I called few media friends who were there and sent the money so he would be freed. Wisa is my friend. We come from the same hometown and I felt it was right to help a brother who was in dire need at that moment,” he said.

Background

An Accra Circuit earlier today fined Eugene Ashie, aka Wisa Greid, GHc 8,400 for exposing his penis on stage during a performance at Citi FM’s Decemba 2 Rememba concert in 2015.

The court presided over by Mrs. Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku found the artiste guilty of the charge of gross indecent exposure. According to her, the evidence put before the court showed that Wisa displayed his real penis and not a dildo as his lawyer had claimed.

Justice Adjin Doku also added that despite the evidence available, the accused failed to show remorse. Failure to pay the fine would see the accused person serve a jail term of 24 months. Wisa, who’s reported to have paid only Ghc5,000 of the amount and promised to pay the rest later, was still in the custody of the police as he needed to be granted bail.

Wisa, who had just one hit song titled  ‘Ekikimi’  at the time, was arrested after Social media platforms were awash with videos of him stripping Accra International Conference Centre, during a live performance at Citi FM’s 2015 edition of ‘Decemba 2 Rememba’, and rubbing his manhood against his female dancer on stage.

The Accra Regional Police was alerted over the video, and according to the Prosecutor, Detective Inspector Judith B. Asante, the Police contacted the managers of the Artiste to produce him at the Regional Police Headquarters for investigations, which they did.

He said their investigations showed that the accused, while dancing with a female dancer identified as Monica Kumadeh, suddenly removed his penis out of his pair of jeans and began to caress the buttocks of the dancer.

Although Wisa is known for songs like ‘Ekiki Me, ‘Cocoa,’ ‘Minste Bo,’ ‘Banana,’ and ‘One Side’, his career took a nosedive due to that incident.

He apologized to Citi FM and said he was ready for any sanction from the Musicians Union of Ghana, MUSIGA.

Although his lawyer had initially claimed that the artiste had shown a dildo and not real penis, Wisa later confirmed that he indeed showed his penis.
