Fifteen out of the 23 New Patriotic Party (NPP) Members of Parliament in the Eastern Region have thrown their support behind former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in his bid to lead the party into the 2028 general elections.

The endorsement was announced during a two-day campaign tour of the region. Speaking on behalf of the group on Wednesday, September 24, Achiase MP Kofi Ahenkorah Marfo said Dr. Bawumia has the experience and vision to secure victory for the NPP.

Dr. Bawumia is contesting the NPP flagbearership against several high-profile party figures, including former General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong, former Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong, Abetifi MP Bryan Acheampong, and former Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum.
