There is no Ghanaian representation in the race for the 2018 African Player of the Year awards after Caf pruned down its initial list.

Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey had been named in the first phase of nominations for the prestigious award.

Senegale and Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly is also another high-profile exclusion as CAF updated its list on Friday morning.

Ten (10) players made the cut for the Player of the Year after votes from members of the Caf Technical & Development Committee, Caf Media Experts Panel and Independent Media and TV Consultants, from the initial 34-man list.

The Awards Gala will be held on Tuesday, 8 January 2019 in Dakar, Senegal.
