The General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu says the petition of former President John Mahama and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to the Supreme Court has exposed their lies that caused many NDC followers to demonstrate on the streets that Mr Mahama won the 2020 general election.

According to him, the petition of the NDC has been made clear that their Presidential Candidate, John Dramani Mahama did not win the 2020 general elections but out of deception paraded former President Mahama as President-elect.

“We have heard in the petition of the NDC’s Presidential Candidate that they did not win but they were out there saying that we should call John Mahama as the President-elect. So, now they have seen that they did not win the 2020 general election. This is the first point for Ghanaians and those who were deceived to go out to demonstrate to know that the NDC has disappointed them,” he noted.

“If someone had been shot and died during the demonstration, the person would have died for nothing,” he fumed.

Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show, the NPP Chief Scribe is marvelled by the fact that the opposition NDC is basing on the assumption to go to the Supreme Court to seek relief for a rerun of the 2020 general election.

He stressed that it is out of place for the opposition NDC to go to the Supreme Court on the assumption that the Electoral Commissioner, Mrs Jean Mensa had said that if all the Presidential results from the Techiman South is given to former President Mahama, Nana Akufo-Addo would still have won the Presidential election.

“Now the Techiman South results are in and the NDC did not get all the results. So, how come the NDC knowing that it did not get all the results of the Techiman South is still going to the Supreme Court saying that if all the results are given to them, there will be a second round? Is this the reason why the NDC is going to the Supreme Court? Who is giving all the Techiman South Presidential results to the NDC when they know what NPP scored from Techiman South?” he quizzed.

He, however, assured the readiness of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to meet the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Supreme Court over the election petition filed by former President John Mahama.

“As for the court issue, we will meet them in court. Everyone should be rest assured that the President-elect of the 2020 general election, President Nana Akufo-Addo won the election convincingly and on Thursday, he would be sworn-in and nothing will change,” he assured.
