A voter in the Bolgatanga Central constituency has expressed disappointment over the failure of Isaac Adongo, the MP for the area to arrange transportation for a group intending to travel from Kumasi to Bolgatanga to vote for him.

She mentions that the group, including herself, has been stranded for several hours.

“Eeeiiii Isaac Adongo, a lot of people are here looking for car to go to the polling stations and vote for you but you’ve put Bolga people to shame”.

“You couldn’t help get us even one car so we could go and vote why? Since yesterday we’ve been here waiting if we could get a car. We are ashamed of what you did to us, we slept outside in the mosquitoes all because we all want to vote for you” she added.

Background

801 candidates are contesting the 2024 parliamentary elections with the number of constituencies moving from 275 to 276 following the creation of the Guan constituency in the Oti Region.

Of the 801, 111 are independent candidates with pollsters predicting that the ninth Parliament could have the highest number of independent MPs.

Following the struggles and peculiarities of the 8th Parliament which was a hung Parliament, the two leading parties, the New Patriotic Party and National Democratic Congress are determined to secure as many seats as possible to ensure that they enjoy a relatively smooth administration of the country should they win the presidency.

Pre-election polls tip some influential figures in Parliament to lose their seats to some new faces who are billed to cause shocks.
