Paris Saint-Germain Hit Four In The Last Four Against Real Madrid: Spanish Giants Thumped In FIFA Club World Cup Semifinal.
The 2024/2025 French and European champions, PSG became the dominant side in the final semifinal game of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup tournament in USA, as they hit four goals past 15-time European champions, Real Madrid at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
From the blast of the whistle by Polish referee, Referee Szymon Marciniak, the French champions took the game to their Spanish opponents, heaping lots of pressure on them from the start of the game. Under three minutes, big Belgian shot stopper, Thibaut Courtois had made two crucial saves for Real Madrid, averting the most dangerous goal scoring opportunities created by PSG which kept the score line at goalless.
Very early into the game, PSG found the opener after a horrendous blunder by defender Raul Asencio, who had a miscue on the ball in the penalty area, losing out on possession of the ball to PSG’s Ousmane Dembele who was manhandled by Thibaut Courtois in an attempt to get the ball but rather had the ball go straight to midfielder Fabian Ruiz who hit the ball into the back of the net to get the opener for the reigning European champions.
PSG were dominant, but Real Madrid became dormant as they struggled to battle it out with their French opponents. They were submerged in thier own half with no other choice than to succumb to the pressure from PSG which lead to a rather abysmal performance by the Spanish outfit.
Three minutes after the opening goal, Ousmane Dembele grabbed the second for PSG when another defensive blunder was caused by another centre half, Antonio Rudiger who lost the ball to Ousmane Dembele, who made a surging run, pounced on the loose ball and slotted in a clinical one to double the lead for PSG.
Many of the fans at the MetLife stadium were rocking and rooting for Real Madrid, chanting and cheering for the Los Blancos; however their unflinching enthusiasm and support for the Spanish side bore no fruit as their efforts were nullified by the hammering from the French side.
With 21 minutes left to go into the break, PSG found the back of the net again as Fabian Ruiz scored his second of the game, rubbing more salt into Real Madrid’s wounds when he sqared off a sublime cross from Achraf Hakimi who had a free run on the right side of attack.
PSG dominated every aspect of the game, creating a host of chances and becoming superior on the pitch. The introduction of Bradley Barcola and Gonçalo Ramos was pivotal for the French side as they came on to pile more pressure on Real Madrid in the quest to grabbing their fourth of the game.
Their efforts paid off eventually as they both combined to grab the fourth and final goal of the day to grab a resounding victory over Real Madrid and seal a spot in the final.
The grand final of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup is slated for Sunday, July 13 2025 as reigning European champions PSG lock horns against 2021 European and world champions Chelsea at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
