Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has acknowledged that 2025 has been a particularly challenging year for the government in managing the country's economy, describing it as a tough period for the economic team.
In an interview with Joy FM on Thursday, July 24, shortly after presenting the 2025 Mid-Year Budget Statement to Parliament, Dr. Forson opened up about the severity of the difficulties faced by the government but reassured the public that the economic management team remains focused on addressing them.
“This year has been difficult, maybe we haven't openly said it, but it has been tough for us as economic managers,” Dr. Forson remarked. “However, we are focused, and we are actively dealing with the challenges.”
Dr. Forson’s comments come as the Mahama-led administration continues its efforts to stabilise the economy, improve public financial management, and build on recent progress in key macroeconomic indicators. During his presentation in Parliament, the Finance Minister unveiled a series of fiscal and structural reforms aimed at reviving growth and strengthening the country’s economic resilience.
Despite the ongoing hardships, Dr. Forson reaffirmed the government’s commitment to steering Ghana toward recovery, emphasizing that the administration remains determined to secure long-term stability.
