Head coach of the Black Stars, Otto Addo, has urged his players to remain focused and work even harder as Ghana push to secure qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Black Stars have enjoyed an impressive qualifying campaign so far, winning five matches and losing just once. With 15 points, Ghana currently sit top of Group I heading into the September international break.
Speaking ahead of the team’s Matchday 7 encounter against Chad, Addo stressed the importance of avoiding complacency despite Ghana’s strong position.
“Like I said, we’re very close, but we’re not there yet. I just try to emphasise to the players that they have to work even harder now. Nobody should relax or think it will go by itself. It’s hard work, hard work. For this, we have to be very sharp and focused, and push each other. If we do so, we will get the right results. I like it this way rather than the other way around,” he said, as quoted by ghanafa.org.
Ghana will take on Chad on Thursday, September 4, at the Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Déby Itno in N’Djamena, with kickoff scheduled for 1:00 pm local time.
