Black Stars deputy captain, Thomas Partey has indicated his desire to participate in the World Cup for a record second consecutive time with the Black Stars in an interview with 3Sports.

The Arsenal midfielder who had a fabulous campaign with the Gunners in the just concluded Premier League season has clearly shown his interest in featuring in the 2026 World Cup after already playing a part in the previous 2022 World Cup in Qatar. In the interview, he expressed how much he and his teammates at the Black Stars would push harder to finish off as Victors of their group to earn an automatic qualification to the Mundial.

“As players we want to be at the World Cup.  We were there the last time and we say how nice it is and we want to be there again so hopefully we win the rest of the games and we would be there” he said.

The combative midfielder had a spectacular season with Arsenal especially in the UEFA Champions League where his starred in their knockout games against 15-time champions Real Madrid and eventual winners of the past seasons, PSG.

Before those games, the Black Stars deputy captain has had a brilliant outing with the Black Stars during the international break as he featured in the World Cup qualifying double header against Chad and Madagascar where he pulled off outstanding performances in both games at home and away respectively. He made sure Ghana won a thrilling 5-0 qualifier in Accra and scored a brace to seal a 3-0 win for the Black Stars in Madagascar.

The former UEFA Champions League runner up with Atletico Madrid has set sights on making a second appearance at the world stage in his career and has implored the Ghanaian fans to rally behind the Black Stars to make the fifth time appearance at the Mundial.

Since making his Black Stars debut in June 2016, the 32 year old midfielder has scored 14 goals in 51 games for the Black Stars of Ghana.
