Police in the Central Region have arrested a 26-year-old man, Eric Asamoah, for allegedly sodomising a seven-year-old boy at Mankessim.

According to a police statement issued on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, the suspect was arrested on November 3 with the assistance of the victim’s father.

He is currently in custody assisting with investigations.

The statement added that the victim has been taken to the Saltpond Municipal Hospital, where he is receiving treatment and is responding well.

During interrogation, Asamoah reportedly admitted to the offence and has since been charged with defilement.

He is expected to be arraigned before the Cape Coast Circuit Court II on Thursday, November 6, 2025.

“The Command will like to use this opportunity to assure the general public that due process of the law will be adhered to bring justice to the boy,” the statement said.
