424 newly qualified lawyers were on Thursday 17th December,2020 inducted into the noble legal profession at a ceremony held in Accra by the Chief Justice, Justice Kwasi Anin Yeboah.

It was the 57th induction of lawyers held by the General Legal Council (GLC).

The Chief Justice urged them to go about their duties diligently and called on them to be decorous and refined with their language especially in the courtroom.

He also urged the lawyers to lead their lives in accordance with the respect the legal work brings to lawyers as it is a noble profession.

“The use of intemperate, offensive and abusive language in professional dealings must be fiercely resisted at all times by all lawyers, no matter the height of the temptation.

“Lawyers should refrain from the use of offensive language or behaviour before the courts,” Justice Anin Yeboah said.

The Chief Justice, Justice Anin Yeboah led the new lawyers as they took the legal profession oath and also an undertaking that compels them to live by the practise of the profession in accordance with the code of ethics and rules.

Also present at the event was the the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Ms Gloria Afua Akuffo; some justices of the Supreme Court and the President of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA), Mr Tony Forson who all in turns presented certificates to the newly qualified lawyers.

Other Justices of the Supreme Court such as Justices Jones Victor Dotse, Paul Baffoe-Bonnie and Yaw Appau were in attendance at the event.

Prizes were given to lawyers who excelled in the professional course at the Ghana School of Law (GSL) with the overall best student award going to Mr Emmanuel Gyan Yeboah.
