A 50-year-old man, Francis Donkor, has been arrested in Nkwanta for unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition following a joint operation by the Police and Military.
The operation, carried out around 6:15 p.m. on Friday, August 1, 2025, was based on credible intelligence suggesting that individuals linked to recent violent riots in Nkwanta and nearby communities were stockpiling weapons.

Acting on this tip-off, the security team moved swiftly to a residence opposite King’s Filling Station Down. The area was immediately cordoned off to secure the location and prevent any potential escape.
A search of the premises uncovered two single-barrel guns and four rounds of AAA ammunition concealed in Donkor’s room.

He was arrested on the spot and is currently in police custody, assisting with ongoing investigations. The seized firearms and ammunition have been retained as evidence.
Security agencies have reaffirmed their commitment to restoring calm in the region and pursuing all individuals involved in unlawful activities.
