Controversial Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) may resign over the party losing the Asawase Constituency to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Bernard Antwi Bosiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi vowed to resign from his position as Ashanti Regional chairman should the NDC retain that seat.
In a twists of events however, the incumbent Member of Parliament for Asawase Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak has retained the seat beating his closest contender Alhaji Alidu Seidu of the NPP with over 6000 vote margin.
It is however unclear if the Outspoken Chairman will willingly give up his post in the party as he promised to do should the party lose the constituency with many residents keen to see what he does next.
The outspoken Wontumi in September this year revealed that the elephant family has done a lot in the constituency coupled with the strategies they implemented will clinch the seat from the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC.
“If we don’t win the Asawase seat I will resign. What we did to Oteng Adjei should serve as deterrent for all the other political parties”, he noted.
“Whatever they do, nothing will stop us from winning all the parliamentary seats in the Ashanti Region”, he stressed.
