2018 didn’t see the best of performances from Ghanaian players abroad.

However, few of them distinguished themselves to deserve a mention.

Pulse sports has compiled a list of Ghanaian players who put up the best of performances in the year under review:

Emmanuel Boateng 

He was the revelation of the year in the colours of Levante in the Spanish La Liga.

He grabbed the headlines on a number of occasions: in just a single season he scored against both Real Madrid and Barcelona.

He would forever be remembered for the hat-trick he registered against FC Barcelona on the final day of the La Liga to end the unbeaten run of the Catalans.

This made Emmanuel Boateng the first African to score a hat-trick against the five times European champions.

Boateng also earned his debut Black Stars call-up and he has a goal to his name for country.

Thomas Partey

The Odumase Krobo born midfielder lived to his dream in 2018.

He was instrumental in the heart of the midfield of Atletico Madrid.

Thomas Partey added goal scoring to his ability to create opportunities. His trademark long stunning goals gave Atletico Madrid fans a lot of joy throughout the season.

Partey aside excelling at club level was superb for country, helping the Black Stars qualify for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

He was nominated for the BBC African Footballer of the Year and also earned a place in the list of 23 player nominated for the African Footballer of the Year.

Kasim Nuhu

The 23-year-old defender has been phenomenal in defence all year. Kasim Nuhu marshalled the defensive area of Young Boys as they won the Swiss topflight league last season.

His outstanding performance won him a deal to Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim.

Despite, still adapting to the Bundesliga, Nuhu gives off his best whenever called to duty.

He also made his presence felt in games he had the chance to play for his side in the UEFA Champions League, especially in their last group game against Manchester City at the Ittihad Sports Stadium.

Jordan Ayew

The Ghanaian striker was the standout player at Swansea City last season.

He was their top scorer and best player of the season, scoring 11 goals in the process, but they were not good enough to save them suffering relegation

Jordan Ayew’s performance attracted offers from several clubs in topflight leagues across Europe, but he ended up at Crystal Palace.

At Palace, he is yet to rediscover his goal scoring boot that made him devastating at the Swans.

For country Jordan Ayew scored a brace for the Black Stars in the only game he features for country in the year.

Richard Ofori

The Black Stars defender has been solid in between the sticks for Maritzburg in the South African topflight league.

His excellent goalkeeping skills was recognized with a nomination for the Premier Soccer League (PSL) goalkeeper of the season.

Richard Ofori’s confidence level and ability to organise his backline has been excellent.

Ofori is gradually solving the goalkeeping void in the Black Stars since Richard Kingston retired from the senior national male football team of Ghana.

Solomon Asante

The pacy attacking midfielder has been instrumental in the campaign of Phoenix Rising.

Solomon Asante bagged 12 goals and provided eight assists in 32 games for his outfit in 2018.

Asante despite excelling at club level was overlooked by Black Stars.
