A class of 25 primary children had to be rushed to hospital after a fellow pupil diluted their water bottles with a substance as an act of revenge for being bullied.

Parents raced to the school after being told what had happened.

The nine-year-old pupil, who has not been named, sneaked into the classroom while everyone was outside taking part in a PE lesson.

He unscrewed the tops from all of their water bottles, dripped liquid glue inside, and then replaced the lids.

His classmates fell ill after returning thirsty from their PE class and grabbing their bottles for a drink in Bursa, Turkey.

One parent said: "One of the pupils put glue in the water bottles of our children, the paramedics are checking them, luckily it seems they're all OK."

The child has reportedly admitted what he had done and told teachers he was getting his own back on classmates who had bullied him.

The children were all taken to the Bursa Training and Research Hospital to be checked over by medics.

Hospital spokesman Dr Efrail Atici said none of the youngsters was seriously ill and they would all be allowed to go home shortly.

It is not reported whether education officials are investigating the incident which happened in the Yildirim area of the city.

Police are unlikely to be involved as the pupil is under the age of criminality, which is 14 in Turkey.
