A 910 carat diamond has been discovered in Lesotho.

The diamond according to Gem Diamonds, a British diamond mines company in Lesotho, the diamond is the 5th biggest gem diamond in history.

Moreover, the discovered diamond is the biggest discovered inLetšeng , the area of the mines.

In 2006, a 603 carat diamond was discovered in Letšeng mine of which Gem Diamonds owns 70 percent.

Clifford Elphick, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Gem Diamonds indicated that Letšeng has been mined by the Gem Diamonds since 2006 and the company has discovered huge diamonds in the area and the 910 carat is the biggest so discovered in the area.

The size of the diamond is equivalent to the size of two gulf balls and according to Ben Davis, who is an analyst at Liberum Capital Markets, estimates that it could sell for as much as $40million.

The biggest diamond ever discovered is the 3,106-carat Cullinan, which was found near Pretoria in 1905. 1,109-carat Lesedi La Rona is the second biggest.

The 995-carat Excelsior and 969-carat Star of Sierra Leone are the third and fourth largest respectively.
