REPORTS: Black Queens owed a staggering amount of $25,000 per player
The Black Queens of Ghana who recently placed third at the African Women Nations Cup in Cameroun are owed a total sum of $25,000 per player ghanaguardian.com can confirm.
The senior national ladies football team were owed arrears of $12,000 prior to the tournament. After having placed third in the tournament, arrears accumulated including the money due each player have risen to a staggering $25,000 owed each player.
Having returned from Congo after the All Africa Games, the Queens were given an amount of Gh5000 each. The four matches they featured in at the group stage of the African Women Nations Cup in Cameroun means that they are owed $9000 for those group games plus an additional $4000 for winning the bronze medal.
These sums added to the old arrears of $12,000 amounts to $25,000.
As at the time of writing this report, the players and the head coach Yusif Basigi are still in Cameroun with reports emerging about difficulties in air plane arrangements.
They are expected to be back in Ghana on Tuesday 5th December,2016 12pm.
The Black Princesses and Maidens are not left out with regards to bonuses owed to players. The Princesses are yet to be completely settled after qualifying for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Papua New Guinea as the Maidens are also facing a financial dilemma.
Concerns have been raised about the lack of focus on the female national teams and other lesser known sports with the senior male national team the Black Stars believed to be enjoying all the attention from the government and Ghana Football Association.
