BRIBERY SCANDAL: Ayariga never, never spoke the truth- Muntaka exposes Ayariga

Minority Chief Whip Mubarak Muntaka has launched a scathing attack on Mahama Ayariga over claims that minority members of the appointments committee had received an amount of  3,000 Ghana cedis each from him (Mubarak Muntaka) which he purported to be an attempt by new Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko to bribe the minority caucus.

In a straight forward denial of the claims and assertions, the minority chief whip said Hon Ayariga is not telling the truth insisting he never gave the Bawku Central member of parliament anything in the first place.

According to a seemingly disgusted Muntaka, he does not know where Hon Ayariga is getting his information from.

Ayariga had earlier said on several media platforms that he and  minority members of the appointment committee had received 3,000 Ghana cedis each from their chief whip thinking it was money being paid to them as sitting allowance.

Quizzed over the claims, Ayariga had sworn to stick by the facts and defend himself anywhere.

“I will stand by this fact anywhere. Hon Muntaka told us the chairman told him the money is coming from Boakye Agyarko and we said no we are not interested” Ayariga had said

But minority chief whip has denied giving Ayariga or anybody else any money from Mr Boakye Agyarko

“I never gave Ayariga anything and I claimed it is coming from Joe Osei Owusu (Chairman of the Appointments Committee)…Osei Owusu has never discussed any money issue with me,” he revealed

“The leadership would have to take this thing up seriously. I don’t know where Ayariga is having this information from.” he reiterated
The Chief Whip further revealed that the members of the committee had previously held a meeting where they came to a conclusion that they were not going to take any money from anyone in relation to the ministerial vetting.
“We had several meetings and before we started we ourselves had agreed in principle that we are not going to take a dime from anybody” he continued
“I am saying that I am a Muslim and Ayariga is a Muslim and I am saying that Ayariga never never spoke the truth” he said emphatically”
New Energy Boakye Agyarko and chairman of the appointment committee Mr. Osei Owusu have both denied knowledge of any money meant as bribe with the former threatening with a suit.
Meanwhile, the public relations directorate of parliament has issued a statement to debunk the claims of bribery labelling them as “frivolous and vexatious”
