One dead, another Injured in shooting incident at Gbawe
A naming ceremony in Gbawe Zero, located in the Greater Accra Region, turned deadly on Friday, June 20, after a shooting incident claimed one life and left another person critically injured.
According to preliminary reports, the violence erupted during a clash between two rival Asafoatse ,traditional warriors or local leaders resulting in gunfire that disrupted what was meant to be a joyful celebration.
Eyewitnesses said a heated disagreement escalated into chaos, prompting panic among attendees as shots were fired.
One victim died at the scene, while the second is currently receiving treatment at Legon Hospital for critical injuries.
The Gbawe Police have launched an investigation into the incident but have yet to release the identities of those involved or provide a motive for the confrontation. Authorities have taken over the case and are expected to issue an official statement in the coming days.
