President John Dramani Mahama has credited the current administration’s Reset Agenda to the strong foundation established by the late President Prof. John Evans Atta Mills through his Better Ghana Agenda.

Speaking at the wreath-laying ceremony commemorating the 13th anniversary of President Mills’ passing, Mahama described his leadership era as one marked by service, integrity, and principles, rather than political insults or divisiveness.

He stressed that the ceremony should be seen as more than just a formality, but as a national responsibility which is an opportunity to reflect on the lasting legacy of the late president.

“If there’s one lesson we draw from the life of President Mills, it is that no challenge is insurmountable when we lead with integrity, when we listen with empathy, and when we govern with principle,” he stated.

“Professor Mills governed this country with a deep moral compass. He placed truth over expediency, people over politics, and the country over self,” the president said.

President Mahama also addressed concerns about the current state of the John Evans Atta Mills Memorial Library.

He acknowledged the facility’s condition and assured the public that efforts are underway to renovate and restore the library. The Chairman of the library’s planning committee is overseeing these efforts to return it to its original standard.

The ceremony, which drew a significant turnout, was attended by senior government officials, National Democratic Congress (NDC) leaders, party elders, relatives of the late president, and members of the public. Notable attendees included Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang and Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin.

Professor Mills, who served as president from 2009 until his untimely death in 2012, is remembered for his calm, peace-oriented leadership and his unwavering commitment to social justice.
