The Bolgatanga Technical Institute (BOTECH) has been closed indefinitely following a violent student riot that broke out on the night of Thursday, August 14, and extended into the early hours of Friday, August 15.

The incident led to significant property damage, including the burning of the school’s library and the office of the senior housemaster. Although no injuries were reported, the full extent of the destruction is yet to be officially assessed.

Authorities have not yet confirmed the cause of the disturbance, and both school officials and police are withholding comment pending an investigation.

Education authorities ordered the immediate closure of the school to protect students, staff, and infrastructure while the situation is brought under control and inquiries continue.
