Ghana assistant coach Roger De Sa has praised the country’s remarkable football talent, saying the Black Stars continue to produce top-quality players despite limited facilities and infrastructure.

De Sa, who recently joined Carlos Queiroz’s technical team following the dismissal of Otto Addo in March, said he has been deeply impressed by the natural ability of Ghanaian players since arriving in camp.

Speaking on the Beyond The Whistle podcast, the former South Africa assistant coach described Ghana’s talent pool as one of the strongest he has seen on the continent.

“There is so much natural talent in Ghana despite limited resources,” De Sa said. “As an African football lover, the talent here is unbelievable. You guys don’t know what you have with limited facilities and infrastructure.”

The experienced coach compared Ghana’s football environment to that of South Africa, where infrastructure and sporting facilities are more developed, but believes Ghana’s raw talent gives the country a unique advantage.

“We in South Africa have talent too, but a different kind with all the facilities,” he added. “Yet we don’t go forward with our talent.”

De Sa’s comments come as Ghana intensifies preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.

The Black Stars have been drawn in a challenging Group L alongside England, Croatia and Panama.

Ghana will open their campaign against Panama at BMO Field in Toronto on 17 June before taking on England in Boston on 23 June. Their final group-stage match will be against Croatia at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on 27 June.

As part of preparations for the tournament, the Black Stars are scheduled to play international friendlies against Mexico on 22 May and Wales on 2 June as they aim to build momentum ahead of the World Cup.
