The Accra High Court has ordered the remand of Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC and Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), into police custody after he allegedly failed to comply with the conditions attached to his bail.

The court took the decision after finding that the accused had not met a key requirement of his bail, which directed him to surrender his passport as part of the terms of his release.

Abronye DC was not present in court when the ruling was delivered.

He is currently standing trial on a charge of false publication in a case instituted by the State.

Court records indicate that he was previously granted bail by the High Court last month after an earlier remand. One of the strict conditions attached to his release was the deposit of his passport with the court.

However, his alleged failure to comply with that directive led the court to revoke his bail and order that he be taken into custody pending further proceedings.

The substantive case is expected to continue at the Circuit Court, where hearings on the false publication charge remain ongoing.
