One dead, another missing as floods displace over 4,000 residents in Aowin Municipality

One person has been confirmed dead and another remains missing after torrential rains caused severe flooding across parts of the Aowin Municipality in the Western North Region.
The Municipal Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Karim Ndego, disclosed that two individuals were swept away by floodwaters during the heavy downpour that hit the area.
According to him, 52-year-old Joseph Dwamena Boateng lost his life after being carried away by the swollen Boinso River. Another victim, identified only as G-Boy, remains unaccounted for as search efforts continue.
Mr. Ndego said rescue teams have been deployed to locate the missing person, but operations have been hampered by rising water levels and limited logistical resources.
The floods have also forced more than 4,000 residents from their homes across several affected communities, with authorities warning that the number of displaced persons could rise if the rains persist.

Emergency response teams are currently assessing the extent of the destruction while coordinating relief efforts for affected households.
Meanwhile, personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) in Enchi, under the leadership of Rev. Father ADO3 Emmanuel Kwaku Yeboah, have appealed to residents to remain vigilant during the rainy season.
The Fire Service has advised the public to avoid attempting to cross flooded rivers, streams and waterways, stressing that such actions pose serious risks to life and safety.
Authorities say they are closely monitoring the situation as efforts continue to support affected communities, recover the missing victim and prevent further casualties.
