Fred predicts Ghana can reach 2026 World Cup quarter-finals

Former Manchester United and Brazilian midfielder Fred Rodrigues de Paula Santos has tipped Ghana’s Black Stars to make a surprise run to the quarter-finals of the FIFA World Cup in North America, backing the four-time African champions to overcome Colombia in the Round of 32.
In a video shared on social media, the former Brazil international expressed confidence in Ghana’s chances, predicting that the Black Stars will defeat Colombia before overcoming Switzerland in the next round to set up a quarter-final clash with Argentina.
Ghana secured their place in the knockout stage after finishing third in Group L with four points. The Black Stars will face Group K winners Colombia on Friday in Kansas City in what promises to be one of the standout fixtures of the Round of 32.
Although Ghana suffered a defeat to Croatia in their final group match in Philadelphia last Saturday, Otto Addo’s side has earned praise for its disciplined defensive displays throughout the tournament. The Black Stars have been among the tournament’s strongest defensive teams, making them a difficult side for opponents to break down.
Colombia, however, head into the contest in impressive form. Los Cafeteros topped Group K with seven points from three matches, a campaign that included a hard-fought goalless draw against Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal.
The Black Stars returned to training on Tuesday in Rhode Island as preparations intensified ahead of the crucial knockout encounter. The team is expected to travel to Kansas City on Wednesday before Friday’s highly anticipated clash.
Ghana will be aiming to reach the World Cup quarter-finals for the first time since their historic run at the 2010 tournament in South Africa, where they became only the third African nation to reach the last eight.
