Razak Simpson joins Finnish side VPS from Nations FC

Ghana defender Razak Simpson has joined Finnish top-flight club Vasa Palloseura (VPS) on a permanent transfer from Nations FC.
The 25-year-old centre-back, who has recently broken into the Ghana national team, leaves the Ghanaian side after becoming one of their most consistent performers.
Nations FC confirmed the move in a statement, praising Simpson’s contribution during his two-year spell with the club.
“Nations FC is pleased to announce the permanent transfer of Razak Simpson to Finnish top-flight side Vasa Palloseura,” the club said.
“We are proud of everything Razak achieved in our colours and wish him every success in Finland.”
Simpson joined Nations FC from the West African Football Academy in August 2023 and quickly established himself as a key player in the side’s defence.
He made 89 appearances in all competitions for the Abrankese-based club, scoring nine goals.
Before joining Nations FC, Simpson played for WAFA, AshantiGold and Liberty Professionals, gaining experience across Ghana’s domestic game.
His performances at club level earned him a first call-up to the Black Stars squad for an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Angola in November 2024.
He scored during the 4-0 win over Trinidad and Tobago at the 2025 Unity Cup in London.
Comfortable at centre-back and in defensive midfield, Simpson is expected to bring strength and versatility to VPS as they continue their Veikkausliiga campaign.
The move represents Simpson’s first opportunity to play club football outside Ghana.
