President Mahama visits Bob Marley Museum during official trip to Jamaica

President John Dramani Mahama on Monday visited the renowned Bob Marley Museum in Kingston, Jamaica, as part of his official visit to the Caribbean country.

The President toured the historic site alongside Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness and the country’s Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, Olivia Grange.

Situated on Old Hope Road in St. Andrew, the museum was formerly the residence of reggae icon Bob Marley. It has since become one of Jamaica’s most significant cultural landmarks, attracting visitors from around the world while celebrating Marley’s legacy of music, social justice and freedom, which continues to inspire people across Africa and beyond.

The visit followed bilateral discussions between President Mahama and Prime Minister Holness focused on strengthening diplomatic relations and expanding economic cooperation between Ghana and Jamaica.

In a post shared on social media after the meeting, Prime Minister Holness underscored the longstanding historical and cultural ties linking the two nations.

“As two nations with shared history and strong cultural connections, we continue to build on our partnership through South-South cooperation, expanding opportunities in trade, investment, and economic development,” he said.

Mr. Holness noted that their talks explored ways to deepen collaboration in several areas of mutual interest, with the aim of creating greater economic opportunities for both countries.

According to him, the discussions identified new avenues for strengthening bilateral relations and promoting sustainable development for the benefit of the people of Ghana and Jamaica.

The Jamaican Prime Minister expressed confidence that the partnership between the two countries would continue to grow and deliver lasting benefits.

“I look forward to the continued growth of this important partnership and the lasting benefits it will bring to Jamaica and Ghana,” he stated.
