Ibrahim Mahama Donates GH¢200,000 at funeral of the late Beverly Afaglo

Businessman Ibrahim Mahama has donated GH¢200,000 to the family of late Ghanaian actress Beverly Afaglo to support arrangements for her final funeral rites.

The donation was announced during the actress’s funeral ceremony at the forecourt of the State House in Accra on Saturday, August 8, 2026, drawing applause from mourners gathered to pay their respects.

Mr Mahama was among the dignitaries who attended the ceremony, which brought together members of the entertainment industry, family, friends and sympathisers to celebrate the life of the actress.

The announcement was met with applause as the congregation was informed that the businessman had donated the equivalent of GH¢200,000, or two billion old Ghana cedis, to the bereaved family.

Beverly Afaglo died on May 24, 2026, at the age of 42 after reportedly battling cancer for about two years.

She enjoyed a career spanning more than two decades and became a familiar face in Ghana’s film and television industry through her roles in several productions.

Beyond acting, Afaglo also ventured into entrepreneurship and founded Traffic Shawarma, which developed into a recognised food business with multiple branches.

She is survived by her husband, musician Choirmaster, their two children, mother, siblings and other relatives.

A thanksgiving service in her memory was scheduled for Sunday, August 9, at Action Chapel International in Tema.

Mr Mahama’s contribution adds to the growing support from individuals, friends and members of Ghana’s creative industry as the family navigates the loss and celebrates the legacy of the actress and entrepreneur.
