Ghanaian defender Jonas Adjetey has described his move to the Bundesliga as a major milestone in his career after completing a €10m transfer from FC Basel to VfL Wolfsburg.

The 22-year-old has signed a long-term contract with the German club, keeping him at Wolfsburg until June 2030, as the club continues to invest in young talent with an eye on the future.

“It means a lot to me to be in the Bundesliga now and to take this step with VfL Wolfsburg,” Adjetey said after the move was confirmed. “I’m looking forward to getting started right away and will give my all every day so that together we can get the results we need.”

Adjetey impressed during his time at Basel, earning a reputation for his composure, physical presence and ability to read the game, qualities that attracted interest from across Europe before Wolfsburg moved decisively to secure his signature.

The transfer fee, reported to be around €10m, underlines Wolfsburg’s belief in the centre-back’s potential as they look to strengthen their squad for the seasons ahead.

For Adjetey, the switch represents both a reward for his steady rise and a new challenge in one of Europe’s most demanding leagues. As he prepares for life in Germany, expectations will be high, but so too is the sense that this is only the beginning of his journey at the top level.
