Ghanaian winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has been named the Sky Bet Championship Goal of the Month winner for August, capping off a triumphant return to form with a thunderous strike that lit up The Valley.

The Leicester City star, who missed much of last season due to an ACL injury, announced his comeback in style with a sensational solo effort against Charlton Athletic. Cutting in from the right flank, Fatawu unleashed a curling rocket into the top corner—his first goal of the 2025/26 campaign and one that proved decisive in the Foxes’ 1–0 win.

Reacting to the award, Fatawu expressed pride and gratitude:
“I’m really pleased and very proud to have won Goal of the Month. That goal was special, especially after missing so much football last season. It wasn’t just down to me, though; the whole team played well that day.”

He also credited his teammates and fans for their support, adding:
“Scoring that winner was a reward for all the effort. I always try to give everything, so it means a lot when I manage to score and help the team.”

Fatawu’s journey back to top form has been marked by resilience. After suffering a serious injury during Ghana’s AFCON qualifier against Angola in November 2024, the 21-year-old underwent months of rehabilitation. His August goal not only signaled his physical recovery but also reaffirmed his status as one of Ghana’s brightest young talents.

With Leicester City pushing for promotion and Fatawu regaining his rhythm, expectations are high for more magic from the Black Stars winger. His next challenge will be maintaining consistency and adding more goals to his tally as the Championship season heats up.
