The owner of New Edubiase United, Abdul Salam Yakubu, has criticized the leadership responsible for the ban on the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, attributing the decision to poor management.

The stadium, which recently hosted Ghana's Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Angola, was banned by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) due to an "unsuitable playing field."

This ban has raised concerns about where Ghana will play their upcoming AFCON qualifier against Sudan in October, with potential venues in Togo, Nigeria, or Ivory Coast being considered.

Speaking in an interview with Asempa FM, Yakubu expressed his frustration over the situation, placing the blame squarely on the country's leadership.

"If you ask me, Abdul Salam Yakubu, it is bad leadership that led to the CAF stadium ban. In this country, our leaders don’t take us seriously," he remarked.

Yakubu went on to criticize the self-serving behavior of those in charge, stating, "They all do what they like.

They are all thinking about their interests. We had four stadia that could host CAF Category Three matches. What led to this ban?"

He further emphasized that since the stadiums are government property, the responsibility for the ban should fall on the government.

Following the ban, the Director General of the National Sports Authority was dismissed by President Nana Akufo-Addo, signaling the seriousness of the issue.

The ban on the Baba Yara Sports Stadium has brought to light concerns about the management of sports facilities in Ghana, and Yakubu's comments reflect a broader frustration with leadership at multiple levels.
