The Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced plans to retire from Parliament in the near future, urging constituents who aspire to represent the area to begin preparing to take up the responsibility.
Mr. Ablakwa, a fourth-term MP who also serves as Minister for Foreign Affairs, made the announcement while presenting financial support to 50 students in Juapong under the North Tongu MP’s Scholarship Scheme.
He said the constituency had invested significant resources in education to develop future professionals, including engineers, lawyers and legislators, to sustain the high standards set in the area.
“We are producing engineers, lawyers, aeronautical engineers, future MPs who will be taking over from me because I will be retiring soon. Also, future presidents and future teachers who will come and help us to maintain the high standards we are laying over here," he said.
Mr. Ablakwa encouraged the scholarship beneficiaries to remain focused and committed to excellence, expressing pride in supporting their academic pursuits.
“Keep making me proud. I am always excited to hand out these scholarships,” he added.
