Chief of Aburi and the Adontenhene of the Akuapem Traditional Area in the Eastern Region, Otobour Gyan Kwasi II, on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, celebrated the 35th anniversary of his installation, with a call on Ghanaians to preserve their cultural heritage for future generations.

Otobour Gyan Kwasi II was installed as the chief of Aburi on 28th February 1988, and ass part of the celebration, he donated GH¢35,000 to support the constitution of social center at Aburi, the Municipal capital of the Akuapem South Municipality.

Speaking at the Thanksgiving Service held at the Aburi Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Otoobour Kwasi II thanked the almighty God for protecting the residents in the various communities within Akuapem Traditional Area and wished long life for each everyone in the area.

Aburihene openly expressed concern about how the government has abandoned the redevelopment of the Aburi Botanical Gardens and reiterated the need for the privatization of the Aburi Botanical Gardens to invite investment to the tourist facility.

He said the Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development who doubles as Member of Parliament for Akwapim South Constituency, Mr. Osei Bonsu Amoa is in charge of the area and has done well to ensure the development of the facility.

He, however, called on the government to come to their aid.

The event was graced by the Okuapehene, Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo III; Omanhene of New Juaben Traditional Area, Daasebre Kwaku Boateng III; and Odeneho Kwafo Akoto III, the Paramount Chief of Akwamu Traditional Area respectively who wished his success on his throne.
