Accra-based Academy Eleven emerged winners of the inaugural Bazaki Football Tournament held on Sunday, June 29 at the Kawokudi Park in Accra, Mamobi-Nima.
The tournament which was organized by West Ham United star, Mohammed Kudus in collaboration with Skechers, saw 10 teams come into contention to compete for the ultimate prize of the tournament.
Academy Eleven and Legon Stars made had an excellent walk through to the finals of the tournament, following wins in the knockout stages.
After the final game, it was Academy Eleven who were crowned victors of the tourney after beating their opponents on penalties following a goalless game in regulation time.
Kudus, who was present at the tournament, was impressed with the talent on display at the Kawukudi Park and confessed his feelings to the media.
“I have no doubt there will definitely be some of them that will make it to a top level even higher than what I've done. And that's what I aspire for,” he told the media.
Aside the honours on display, each participating team received Skechers boots donated by the West Ham United midfielder as the Sports brand has been the headline gear sponsor of the Ghanaian star for a while now.
As a brand ambassador for Kivo group of companies , Kudus also handed boxes of Kivo Gari Mix to all 10 participating teams for the tournament.
The Black Stars player was also supported in the initiative by his mum, uncle, high profile personalities from the community including former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Communications Director, Ibrahim Sannie Daara.
Both the winning team and the runners-up also received signed jerseys from the Ghanaian international.
Other participating teams included his former club, Strong Tower, Field Masters, Great Padua and Nima Cities.
